Product Description
Do you find your drill bits wearing down quickly when going through abrasive formations? If so, conventional flat cutters may not be your best option because they offer poor penetration rates and very little toughness. The Triple-Ridged PDC Cutter provides you with an option that has advanced geometry which combines both shearing and crushing capabilities.
Product Details

Product Benefits
Gain the advantages of a 3D design which allows you to transfer more energy into the formation.
- Triple Raised Ribs – Concentrates stress into three points which allows you to cut into formation with less WOB.
- Concave Chip Breaker Surfaces – Serve as "mini-flutes" for the cutter. These grooves allow the rocks to be expelled away from the cutting surface right away instead of having to grind it down again which reduces heat.
- Low Modulus of Rigidity – Although this cutter has an aggressive cutting structure, it will not experience chipping like some other triple ribs due to its intermittent loading. The cutter has high impact toughness.
Advantages
Move away from flat cutters and see the difference for yourself. Here are just a couple of reasons why you should make the switch:
- Breaking Action: Unlike flat cutters which just shear the rock into smaller pieces, triple ridged cutters can shear and crush the formation into submission. Meaning your formation will break much easier even if you encounter hard or mixed layers.
- Faster ROP: Given the same cutting depth and angle, this design will have a much higher rock breaking efficiency compared to flat cutters or other triple ridged designs.
- Resistance to Malling: Also known as better "mud balling" resistance. Triple-Ridged PDC Cutters dig into formations better than traditional cutters and high quality compact substrates provide greater cleaner and cooler cuts when dealing with sticky shale or reactive formations.
Process
Where would you typically find these cutters being used?
- Oilfield – Deep well drilling
- Mining & Geothermal – Hard rock drilling
Our triple ridged cutters are made through HPHT (high pressure high temperature) and laser cut to ensure each rib is perfectly balanced. Symmetrical. You can also contact us for custom needs. We can change the substrate to a different grade or adjust the height of the ribs to fit your formation.

Advantages
1.The unique structural design of triple-ridged PDC cutter with a 155° flat face angle and a 5mm ridge length delivers high rock-breaking efficiency, surpassing traditional PDC cutters.
2.Low cutting resistance and directional chip evacuation reduce the risk of stick-slip and drill bit failure during deep drilling.
3.The triple-ridged PDC cutter higher impact resistance and balling resistance than flat composite cutters, with enhanced impact toughness.
4.Cutting ridges facilitate penetration into the formation, resulting in superior cutting efficiency and lifespan compared to flat cutters.
5.Used in hybrid cutter PDC drill bits, they improve penetration rate, lifespan, and drilling efficiency.

FAQ
Q: How does the new design help increase bit longevity?
A: Less friction is created when you first contact the rock with less surface area. Along with a high quality substrate, this cutter will not generate as much heat as a flat cutter and will outperform them in abrasive formations.
Q: Are these available for current PDC bit bodies?
A: Yes! Currently we can machine these to work with your existing bit fleet.
Q: Won't the triangle shaped cross section decrease the cutting area of the tool?
A: No it will not. The unique structural design is engineered to maintain the original cutting area while redistributing the force for more effective rock fragmentation.
